Slot 06 Website design and build Service
A site that loads fast and costs nothing to host
Static sites built with Astro and hosted free on Cloudflare, so your domain is the whole bill. WordPress when the site needs a login and an editor.
Slot 38 Running cost The whole bill
Hosted free forever on Cloudflare's free plan
You pay only your domain, around $10 a year. There is no hosting invoice after that, because there is no server to rent.
A WordPress site needs a machine running PHP and a database, awake all the time, waiting for visitors who may not arrive. That machine has a monthly bill. Most managed WordPress hosting sits somewhere between $20 and $50 a month, which is $240 to $600 a year for a brochure site that changed twice.
An Astro site is compiled once, on my machine, into finished HTML. Cloudflare serves those files from its own network on the free plan. Nothing runs per visit, so there is nothing to bill per month.
The honest footnote: this is Cloudflare's plan and not mine, so I cannot promise what they do with it in ten years. What I can promise is that the site is plain files and the source is yours, so if that day comes it moves to another host in an afternoon.
Your yearly cost
- Domain name ~$10
- Hosting $0
- SSL certificate $0
- CDN $0
The domain is paid to your registrar, not to me. I will point it at the site either way.
Slot 32 Price list Starting figures
What it costs
Page counts are the honest driver here. A five-page site and a fifteen-page site are the same job done twice as many times.
| Astro static site | |
|---|---|
| Starter Up to about five pages. Design, build, deploy, and your domain pointed at it. | from $349 |
| Business Up to about twelve pages, plus a blog and the same SEO layer this site runs. | from $749 |
| Updates and security Dependency updates, security patches and the redeploy afterwards. Content edits are not included. | $120 per year |
| Monthly care The same updates, plus a quota of small content changes every month. | $29–49 per month |
| WordPress | |
| Build For a site that needs a login, an editor, and pages you change yourself. | from $599 |
| Monthly care Updates, security, backups, and two small content changes a month. Anything larger is quoted before it starts. | from $59 per month |
| Both halves together | |
| Hosting Kit An Astro site and a matching WHMCS client area, built on one design. | $999 |
Final quote depends on size. The form takes 60 seconds and I reply with a fixed number.
Slot 26 Aftercare Two shapes
Two ways to keep it looked after
Both exist because a site nobody touches for two years is a site with an old dependency in it. Neither is compulsory.
Updates and security, $120 a year
The site stays current, the words stay put
Dependencies and security patches are brought up to date, the site is rebuilt, and the new build is deployed and checked. It covers updates, rebuilds and redeploys, and it does not include content edits.
That fence is there so the plan has a price I can hold to. If you need a paragraph changed, ask and I will quote it, or take the monthly plan instead.
Monthly care, $29 to $49
The same, plus a quota for changes
Everything above, on a monthly cycle rather than a yearly one, with a set number of small content changes included: a price, an opening time, a new team photo, a paragraph rewritten.
Which end of the range depends on the size of the site and the size of the quota. A new page is not a small change and gets quoted on its own.
WordPress care, from $59 a month
Monthly only, and that is deliberate
Core, plugin and theme updates, security, and backups that get restored to check they work. Two small content changes a month are included and anything larger is quoted first.
There is no yearly tier for WordPress. Plugins update weekly and a broken page needs noticing in days, so a once-a-year plan would be a promise I could not keep.
Slot 20 Hosting Kit Bundle
Your website and your billing portal, one design
The bundle hosting companies actually need. A marketing site that costs nothing to run, and a WHMCS client area that looks like it belongs to the same company.
This is the seam most hosting brands lose customers at. The website is careful and current, then the customer clicks Login and lands in a stock blue billing panel that looks like a different company bought them overnight.
The Hosting Kit closes that seam by building both halves at once, from one set of type, colour and spacing decisions. The client-area theme is built on the WHMCS template system, with overrides and hooks rather than edited core files, so updates stay routine.
Hosting Kit Bundle $999
An Astro marketing site plus a pixel-matched custom WHMCS client-area theme, quoted and built as one job. Bought separately the two start at $349 and $499.
The WHMCS half in detailSlot 14 Manifest What gets built
What comes with the build
- Design and layout for every page, agreed before anything is built
- Written for phone width first, because that is where most of the traffic is
- Titles, descriptions, canonical tags, Open Graph and structured data
- Sitemap, robots file and an RSS feed where there is a blog
- Real form labels, focus states and colour contrast that passes
- A contact form that reaches you without a third-party form service
- Your domain and its DNS pointed at the site, with SSL issued
- Analytics only if you want it, and one that does not need a cookie banner
- The source in a repository you own, not a folder on my machine
- A short written handover of how to redeploy it without me
Wondering how a site like this is actually put together? This one is built the same way. The guides cover the server side of it.
WHMCS billing and signup designSlot 04 Questions FAQ
Questions I get asked
Why is the hosting free?
Because there is no server. A static site is a folder of finished files, so nothing has to run PHP or answer a database query when someone visits. Cloudflare serves files like that on its free plan, and that plan is a real product rather than a trial that expires. The only recurring cost is your domain name, which is around $10 a year at any registrar and is paid to them, not to me.
What is the catch?
A site with no server cannot do the things that need one on every request: member logins, a dashboard, a shop that holds its own stock levels. Forms and search are handled other ways, and this site runs both. If your site genuinely needs a server behind it, I will say so and we will build it on WordPress instead of pretending otherwise.
Can I edit the pages myself?
Not the way you would in WordPress. A static site is changed at the source and redeployed, which is what the care plans cover. If editing your own pages several times a week is the actual requirement, WordPress is the honest answer, and I build those too.
What is the difference between the $120 a year and the monthly plan?
The yearly one keeps the site current: dependency updates, security patches, and the redeploy that follows. It does not include content edits. The monthly plan is the same work plus a quota of small content changes, so it is the one to take if the pages actually change.
Why is there no yearly plan for WordPress?
Because once a year is not often enough to look at a WordPress site. Plugins and core update on their own schedule, sometimes weekly, and an update that breaks a page is only worth knowing about within days. A yearly tier would be a plan I could not honour, so it is not offered.
Can you rebuild the site I already have?
Yes, and it is usually less work than starting from nothing, because the content exists and most of the decisions have already been argued out. What changes is the machinery underneath it and the bill that came with the old one.
What if I want to move it somewhere else later?
You can. The output is plain files and the source is yours. It runs on Cloudflare, on Netlify, on a cPanel account, or on any server that can serve a folder. Nothing about the build ties you to one host, which is the point of not having a server in the first place.

Tell me what the site has to do
Roughly how many pages, whether anyone needs to log in, and whether you want to edit it yourself. That is enough for me to tell you which of these two it is and what it costs.
