Using this site

These terms cover this website. They are not the agreement for paid work. That gets scoped and agreed separately, in writing, before anything starts.

The guides on this site

The articles here describe procedures I have run on real servers. They are written carefully and in good faith, and they are still general technical writing, not advice about your specific system. I do not know your server, your data, your panel version or your constraints.

Server administration is destructive by nature. Commands that are routine on one system delete data on another. Before you run anything from this site on a machine you care about:

• Take a backup, and confirm you can restore it.
• Read the command and understand what it does before pasting it.
• Try it somewhere that is not production.
• Check it against your vendor's current documentation, because software changes.

You run these procedures at your own risk. If you would rather someone did it who has run it before, that is what the services are for.

Accuracy

Panels, operating systems and tools change. Something correct when it was written can be wrong a year later. I correct things when I find out about them, and I would genuinely rather hear about a mistake than not: hello@ahtshamjutt.com.

No warranty

This site and its content are provided as they are, without warranty of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent the law allows, I am not liable for loss or damage arising from using this site or acting on its content, including data loss, downtime or lost business.

Nothing here limits liability for anything that cannot lawfully be limited.

Content and copyright

The writing, design, illustrations and code samples on this site are mine unless stated otherwise. You are welcome to use the commands and configuration snippets in your own work. That is what they are for, and no attribution is required. Republishing whole articles is not permitted without permission; quoting a portion with a link back is fine.

Any open-source project I publish is covered by its own licence in its repository, not by these terms.

Trademarks

cPanel, WHM, DirectAdmin, Plesk, WHMCS, CloudLinux, Cloudflare, RunCloud, Cloudways and other product names belong to their respective owners. They are referred to here to describe the work accurately. This site is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any of them.

External links are provided because they are useful. I do not control those sites and I am not responsible for what they contain.

Availability

I try to keep the site up, and it may still be unavailable for maintenance or for reasons outside my control. There is no uptime commitment attached to a personal website.

Changes

These terms may be updated. The date at the top reflects the current version, and continuing to use the site means the current version applies.
